Hugran's March — Your Starting Area
A downloadable local area
Your Local Area
Welcome to Hugran’s March, a local area suitable for low-level play! If you just started a campaign in a TTRPG, such as Draw Steel, Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Daggerheart, or others, this compact region is perfect for you! Starting a campaign can be daunting—you feel like you need to know everything about your world before you can even start playing. Well, you don’t! You should start small—with a starting town or a local area. You can always expand on your world later.
How Do I Use It?
If you don’t already have a handful of ideas simply looking at the map above, you can always just pick a location to drop in an adventure you have at the ready and start exploring! Or you can show this map to your players and let them choose their next destination. Maybe it’s not necessarily a diegetic map the characters encounter, but a simple representation of what the locals know about this area. This booklet provides you with some information about each location and a hook for a possible adventure that could take place there. You can always (and are encouraged to!) change the lore as you see fit.
While this particular area is located in Orden, the world of Draw Steel, there’s nothing in the lore that you can’t find in other typical fantasy worlds. You can easily replace wode elves with wood elves or Good King Omund with any other beloved deceased monarch, and no one will be the wiser.
If you need a short adventure that takes in this area, you can find one here! From the Ashes is a quick 1st-level quest for Draw Steel that you can use to start a campaign for new players.
